Do you think it’s possible for someone with limited to no sewing skills (aka me) to make a tulle skirt in about…Oh 10 days?
Definitely. You don’t even need a sewing machine, for certain kinds of tulle skirts! I’ve linked a few tutorials for you:
This is a tulle tutu. You’re basically knotting tulle around a ribbon over and over.
This is a layered tulle skirt (layered in a way that would allow you to not nee a slip underneath the skirt).
This one’s another layered (tiered) tulle skirt. You’d be using stretch material (very forgiving) and layers of tulle.
Have fun!
I should be studying…instead I’m making initial pillows. Hehe :)
Yerp. Letter Pillows. The letter “S” is a pain.
Also, I need a cutting table…
That’s an awesome compliment from anyone really :D
I started sewing 4 years ago in high school, but on and off. I wanna say that I’ve actually only really sewn for about a year, since I kept stopping (life happens, no money, etc, haha).
I think the biggest reason I am where I am now is how stubborn I am. For the longest time, I refused to use patterns. I was determined to learn how to do everything without patterns. I deconstructed shirts and pants to figure out how it was put together. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve messed up on an idea, and had to figure out some other way to fix it = the best way to get a cool design, I tell ya!!!
I didn’t make anything from scratch, except for my prom dresses. Looking back, I wish I made my prom dresses from thrifted things, too!
I would look at clothes from a technical perspective (looking at the seams, lines, etc). Honestly, I only used 3 patterns so far, and that was most recently… but I wanna say, since I started from taking things apart, it makes everything so much easier in terms of not needing directions, or if I wanna change something, I don’t have to plan as much ahead.
Just jump into it! That’s essentially what I did :P
My first boned bodice :) Next one will be a little longer, and I’ll probably use canvas (not sure what color yet though)
I love science!
…and Bacon
I’ve already been working on pants for myself, and trying to figure out convertible pants to wear in the summer (see pictures in my tumblr!)
But now, I’m just gonna focus on outer gear, like rain gear, and other stuff. :) Yay!
I love these pants I just made! I just didn’t anticipate one thing…Snaps can unsnap pretty easily…Otherwise, they’re awesome :)
Pants for riding, shorts for everything else!
Preview of what I’m making this weekend, almost done ! :)
My pants I made in action on my FZ6 :) Vroom!
I wanted to make pink and black pants,…that didn’t look so girly! I’m so proud of my first pair of pants :D
These are my new favorite pants…that I made!! :D
